Now it was
His turn to sit at the table
Waiting
Nervous
He knew the outcome of such
Rendezvous
Was it worth it
She arrived
And he refused to look at her
Pulling out her chair
As she sat down saying
“You’re early.”
“Well,
You know me;
Always at my best
After 5:30.”
They proceeded with
Light conversation
Flirty
Flirting
She was complimenting
His shirt when
Dessert came
While they finished up
It was more of the same
And he lost track
Of the reason they were meeting
Envisioning a future
Where they were together
Better
Even if it was never the same
His revere
Was interrupted with a question
“What do you think
Would be a good name
For a boy?”
The confusion
Must have been apparent
Because she added quickly
“I’m pregnant by the way.”
He was at a loss
Of words to say

100 Day Story: Day 04
Today he was sitting
Lunch but not eating
She had called him yesterday
Late evening
Explained her needing
Sounded like tears
But it was only heavy breathing
She wasn’t able to explain
As time
She didn’t have a lot of
So today she would call again
No judgement
She just needs a friend
And he prepared himself
As the phone started to ring
“Hello.”
“Hey.”
“I thought
You weren’t supposed to be calling again.”
“Then who would I tell
That I’m divorcing then?”
Silence was putting it mildly
Stunned
This is where the child inside
Would laugh widely
Say that’s what you get
For trying to spite me
But this isn’t a child’s conversation
And his hand trembled slightly
As she continued to speak
“We don’t interact anymore.
I remember when it was
on the bed, on the chair, on the floor.
Am I not attractive anymore?”
Then he realised… Continue reading
100 Day Story: Day 03
Yesterday she woke up
Mid-morning
To have a conversation
With the man in her life
To get answers
To why
He seemed unhappy
About her being his wife
It didn’t go well
If he had been a violent man
There would be parts of her
That would be swell-ed
And it wasn’t the fear of pain
That made her end the conversation quickly
It was the fear that
She would have no one to tell
Not even her friend
Today she laid down beside him
Uneasy
Thinking that this marriage
Hasn’t gone well
And deep down she wanted
For things to get better
But it was a hard sale
To hang on for more lines
Of what had turned into
A hard tale
The honeymoon had been a honeymoon
A precursor to storm
Gone was his charm
Gone was his arm
Connected to hands that
Would caress her curves
Rattle … Continue reading
100 Day Story: Day 02
He hung up the phone
Woke up Saturday morning
Knowing it was a faux
He was committing
Knowing that if it was anyone else
It would be
“Don’t hate the player or the game,
You D-League Jason.”
But her husband’s name is Mason
“And I’m only supposed to be her friend,
Not wondering about possible futures.”
But make no mistake in
The fact that many times
He was tempted to pull the trigger
Especially at times when she
Kept complimenting him
Telling him he was the BIGGER
But a
MAN
Knows what a man knows
He knew he was intruding
On a sacred bond
And if it was anyone else
He wouldn’t mind wearing his jersey
Disguised in a man’s clothes
But as far as women go
She wasn’t one of those
“She’s innocent, I suppose.”
And the path he would lead her down
She would gladly agree
Seeing that … Continue reading
100 Day Story: Day 01
The wedding took place
Honeymoon
And it was now a year and a day earlier
“He’s been out constantly,
Every night. It doesn’t make sense.
Especially now that my investment is greater.”
The voice on the other side didn’t berate her
Making it her solace
When nights alone had become
More frequent
And her loneliness greater
“It’s just hiccups in a life long union.
You know right. The grey areas.”
And so it went
Every night they talked
He continues to defend her spouse’s behaviour
But it seemed
To her
Now that the ring was on her finger
His actions
Said that now he was her husband
He had done his duty to placate her
And her mother was no help
She kept saying
“It’s nothing major.”
“I swear I sense bitterness
And a bit of anger.”
To that the other side of the line gave no answer
“Well, anyways, … Continue reading
