Welcome

100 Day Story: Day 9

She had not expected
That turn of events
To get angry pupils dilated
And then have it abated
So this is closure
The weight seemed lifted
And for the first time
She was starting
To see possible perspectives
Good possibilities
Of her present future
He had told her he would
Not interfere in her life
Her happiness was her right
But if she ever needed a friend
For anything
You know like
To shoot the breeze
Or talk about the pressure
No one seems to understand
You know like
How she was afraid
She wasn’t the right wife
That maybe she was the one
Bringing down her
Match made in heaven
And if anyone would know
He would
Sometimes you just need a friend
On your side
You know right
Wrong
Could help define
To reassure you that you’re
Fine
She was okay now
The bride to be
Her mind … Continue reading

100 Day Story: Day 8

Saturday midday
What time did he say
She looked at her watch
Unsettled
Like an egg that was about to hatch
Yesterday
About the same time
She had been on the phone
wondering if she’d lost her mind
That she had just made up
To move on
The day before
“Don’t say it,
Don’t say it.”
But there was no one around
On the same patio
Besides the ground
So as she waited she calmed
Her thoughts
By holding her head
Down
Taking in the sounds
And the sight of the ground
It was a good thing
Because anyone watching would
See her face change continually
From a smile to a frown
Closure he had said
That’s all they needed
For the last week
Discontent they’d lived it breathed it
And in the last couple days
Her future had drawn closer
But there was still one obstacle
Closure
She was … Continue reading

100 Day Story: Day 7

A day later he sat
On his first break
Anticipating the call that would come later
She had sounded rushed
When he called yesterday
So they had set up a time for later
Today
Was the result
Of schedules that didn’t seem to match
Making him wonder IF
they’d actually have that conversation
her voice was as he heard
Filled with reservations
Would he get that face to face
He was going to talk her into
That’s what he planned for this
Conversations
In the past
That went for too long
Never went too well
A whisper of the wrong phrase
And it all went to
Hell
He remembered the reason
They hadn’t spoken for so long
Was what he had said
Been so wrong
That time all he had heard
Was the *click*
No song
Could have drowned out
The sound of the silence
Was heavy enough
But then … Continue reading

Weighted Words

Your words hold weight
Like a beautiful woman
With that beautiful shape
That leaves
A man’s mouth agape
No matter how much
I drink and eat
Get hungry
They leave food on my plate
At this rate
I won’t be able to lose it
The weight
So all I can do is
Pass it on
Share
Show someone else
The meaning of care
Your words hold weight
Enough
Gold
That enables me to create
A graven image
And have it burned
And after learn
Something great
Like
Scribbles on a tablet
Your words hold weight
And this last part
Is specific
Maybe a little late
But I would have been privileged
If
I held your weight
Felt it flow off my tongue
Or from
The page filled with lines
That I used my hands
To caress and create
And that last line wasn’t
Too great
But the imagery
Is just … Continue reading
