I am a man! This is a man’s world. As such, I am the ultimate and only power in the construction of our modern society. This statement is very much true. It would be more politically correct to say the statement is false which is the outlook those who see no more room for change will adamantly say is more acceptable. “How can it be true?” they might ask. It is clearly a chauvinistic and self possessed argument. Women’s rights have come so far. Women have made bold statements in the workforce and politically as well. Women are now equal partners in all things regarding the home. They have grown out of obscurity to prominence but strangely still in the servitude of a man. The irony is astoundingly apparent and to many who speak on these issue, non existent.
That lack of understanding and foresight is the smile and false hope reflected in many young women today. They look forward to bright futures and a job — once they’ve gained the credentials — where they’ll be treated as equals. Yet, ask many women who have blazed the trail before them and those opportunities would be more accurately outlined in the context of the culture that we live in. In many cases a man must hire a woman for her to attain her post and as far as promotions go, a man is usually in the position to confer such a rise up the proverbial ladder. In the end no matter what a female may have earned it was still given to them by a man…
My position then is this. Maybe the true strength of a woman isn’t to follow in the paths men have established but to conjure new ones based on their own strengths. This would then eventually create a new avenue that rivals the male empire in all it’s glory. We currently live inside a masculine construct of dominance and greed. Although the benefits are tangible we tend to overlook the pitfalls that such a mentality can leave us in. This is a world made for both a man and a woman and balance is key to it’s continued prosperity.
The only question left to ask then is what is the strength of a woman? If that’s understood, how then can women implement that strength in their daily outlook? This is all an ideal as it seems women of status have been conditioned to be men for so long they’ve forgotten what it is to be themselves. There are many perspectives missing at the table of decision makers in our time. One of those key viewpoints happens to be that of a woman.
