Welcome

Loved Ones

I write for myself
And my loved ones
Sometimes
For the people I loved once
Because a famous guy once said
Better to love and lost
Than to never love once
But this is for the people I loved since
I met them
And the respect hasn’t moved a half inch
Even if it’s recent
And they weigh seven pounds and one ounce
I’ll describe them with pronouns
Because they have names
Some anyways
That you might not be able to pronounce
So he’s my son
She’s my daughter
Until I get mine
Even after
I’ll make time
To fill their lives with laughter
Make sure they never hate rhymes
Make sure it’s not only because we’re relatives
That we relate minds
You know it’s all relative
Maybe not as constant as the speed of light
It takes time
And in the same frame
I’ll picture their parents
I hope they don’t mind
I now you’re upset
You lost your family
But it would be unwise
To try to take mine
Because they’re my reason for living
Breathing
Giving
So if they go missing
You’ll learn why even a hero can go blind
Pitch Black
So I’ll endeavour
To make them glow
Shine
Even when it’s dissonant
Because they’re picking the wrong strings
Saying the wrong things
Until my nerves twine
And my teeth are grinnnd – ing
So long as I hear happiness in the music
It’s all fine
