Welcome

100 Day Story: Day 02

He hung up the phone
Woke up Saturday morning
Knowing it was a faux
He was committing
Knowing that if it was anyone else
It would be
“Don’t hate the player or the game,
You D-League Jason.”
But her husband’s name is Mason
“And I’m only supposed to be her friend,
Not wondering about possible futures.”
But make no mistake in
The fact that many times
He was tempted to pull the trigger
Especially at times when she
Kept complimenting him
Telling him he was the BIGGER
But a
MAN
Knows what a man knows
He knew he was intruding
On a sacred bond
And if it was anyone else
He wouldn’t mind wearing his jersey
Disguised in a man’s clothes
But as far as women go
She wasn’t one of those
“She’s innocent, I suppose.”
And the path he would lead her down
She would gladly agree
Seeing that the situation
She found herself in was
Sadly morose
And he knew that
He didn’t know the whole story
It takes something
Equal to losing his pride
Petty as it might sound
For a man to go from
Loving and caring
To neglectful and demeaning
In the same story
But he knew he couldn’t
Leave her alone
Because they were circling
The ones
Who were waiting for her
To finally get fed up
With always being home alone
Sometimes he wished he had a clone
With no brain
So that if something went wrong
He could atone
Say it was a mistake
The problems and conflicts
He saw coming
Made him try to look away
“I’m her friend, her confidant,
Her protector
And I told her
I’d be there anytime she needs something”
He was justifying the actions
He was contemplating taking
Maybe he was the knight
In the black armour
Convincing himself he was doing it
Out of duty
To save her the drama
And he knew that
Wouldn’t be the last phone call
Or the most emotional
And he knew that it would get dirty
Trying to get a good result
From a bad action
There is no market
Where that would gain any traction
But he would bow and she would courtesy
And the dance will start
And he knew he was asking for too much
But he asked anyways
“If it’s possible please
Let the sad note at the end of the music
Only hurt me.”
Because for her
As a friend
He would be there anytime
She needed something
And in a court of law mitigating
Good intentions should
Count for something
He looked at his clock it was 6:30
Early
Fading back into sleep he thought
“This wouldn’t be so complicated
If only…”
She was somebody else.
