Same job
Different day
He needed a change
Or a different way
To think about life
Only made the days longer
On his break
Today the site
Was on the lake
Shore to be exact
Where
He wasn’t sure
But if he had thought back
He would have remembered that
She had an office on the third floor
Four doors
Away from where he was working
And the worst thing
Is she saw him
And the first thing
She thought was
A question
“Why am I hurting?”
Then
“I wonder
Did I hurt him?”
His mind wasn’t quite aware
Because
He was looking directly at her window
But it was a glass stare
She contemplated going down
To ground level
But figured
He was on a short reprieve
And would be gone by the time
She reached the last stair
Her heart quickened
“Did he really care?”
He didn’t know
What his future
Was going to be
He was losing motivation
Is this all it was going to be
Asking himself
“Is this all
I have going for me?”
The Truth
Was suddenly starting to be
Not enough
Thinking back to her
Should he have given up
Was it fear
Or pride
That
He wasn’t going to be living up
To unknown expectations
Situation
Was out of his reach
Deeper contemplation
Told him
Held him
Fixated
Staring
Caring
More than he intended
Would Truth
Be offended
That he held that part back
Or did Truth already know
That he was underachieving
Afraid to grow
Too much to think about
As his small respite was over
So
He thought to himself
That
These are things
He may never know
Unless he had time
To look into
Not only at
Or past
The window
