Welcome

From the Outside

Speak up
So I can see you
I can read minds
But a closed mouth
With no actions
Has never fought off evil
And every poem before
This
Is the sequel
In a galaxy far far away
Being forced to
Elevate the mind of people
So we can talk
Self-righteous
I told myself
Let me leave you
The middle came first
Defining a legend
No one was impressed
With the prequels
So
I was grandstanding without a stage
Thinking they know the script
Writing unedited lines on a page
There’s no need for introductions
But this is a new generation
And for the old
My face begins to fade
So
“Allow me to reintroduce myself.”
Because I need to

Hello beautiful
Nice to meet you
Use your words
Audio is what I’m into
Your mind and body are open books
But I grow tired of trying to read you
There’s no nuance
No surprise
The plot is all too see through
And your delivery’s way too simple
I want to hear about yourself
Your philosophy
Based on what you’ve been through
Your goals
Your dreams
I call that a subtle intro
Part of the dialogue
A soliloquy with confidence
Because
I’m nostalgic for this quality play I’ve been to
The standard being sung
Felt so aged
And filled with wrinkles
Brought me back to youthful days
When
You made it obvious
Of course I followed
And I’ve seen you
But its hubris to think
That out of many who did the same
That I’m the one that you were into
And to know me
Well
I have to hear your side
There’s something I’d like to read you
You feel so familiar
But
For the sake of acting without a stage
I like to play
And say it’s nice to finally meet you

It’s me and I’m a man of the people
A man of the people
Remember
They don’t need you
They have everything they need too
Give away yourself
And all they do is eat you
‘Til you have nothing left
And that is where they leave you
Some even saying that you’re the cause of evil
Cynical “ain’t” it
So sure
Before
Now that I’m tainted
Watching vultures
Making names for themselves
Claiming new discoveries
With rough outlines
Under pictures I’ve painted
I’m left unwilling to speak
Contradiction
According to all of these saints
The words that I use are so outdated
And quaint
Honour
Honesty
Human
Throwback to days
When corsets would cause ladies to faint
Waist trainers
I can’t
Take this seriously
It’s all the rage
Where did it come from
All this rage
Suddenly they learned they were oppressed
And they gave the patsies a stage
All the acting
I can’t
Take this seriously

Hello
It’s me
I know this isn’t what you thought or wanted it to be
But hang on
You’ll see
They say in time that the Piper always gets his fee
And the truth will always set you free…

“It’s so typical to talk about myself…I’m sorry…”
