Welcome

Change

New beginning they said
But I’ve been on this road for so long
If you didn’t see me yesterday
You might have missed me
Walking down the same road
Just misunderstandings
So no wrong
In you seeing a new backdrop
Thinking it’s a different place
Might even think I’ve changed
But all I’m doing is taking off the mask
It’s not a different face
Same shoes I walked in in the last mile
Just a different lace
Let me make it clear
This is the old me
Surrounded by the same rats
So it’s not even a different race
Coincidentally “further along”
Mind no longer contemplating
Dwelling in a different state
Not saying I wouldn’t like a different fate
But for me
There’s no turning back
They say there is no never
But in this case
For me
It’s kind of late
She lost her patience
So
No longer can I say
Destiny
Can you wait
Pause
Before I go any further
I know you never heard of me
I’m nobody
But what I’m going to say
Will leave you saying
Word
You see
All I want to know is
What criteria do you use as the rate of me
For the females who said
“I would like to date;
Make you my mate.”
What stopped you
What made you
Hesitate
Erase the bright future
With me in the picture
And while you contemplate
Let me ask
Was it my doubt in scripture
Was it the appearance of
No food sitting on my fast breaking plate
Made it appear
As if I
Held no weight
Or were you worried about me exchanging you
For fresh fruit
When you’ve passed your date
Stating you’re just not my taste
Making it a cycle
Turning at a rapid pace
These are just questions
Mild curiosity
Devoid of hate
Said the paper in inquiry
Because I hadn’t defiled her in a while
With my slightly creative
Unorthodox style
I caught the little smile
As I pulled out my pen
And let it kiss her
Then thanked her
For being on this road with me for so long
I ramble
I’ll continue if you want me to go on
But where was I
I was about to take my place
On this stage
I see why they said new beginning
It might not be a new book
But it is a brand new page
Same band
Louder
Thanks to this larger bass (base)
