Welcome

Changed (Do I Care)

I’ve been writing and not sharing
Do I care
And
Am I someone who’s starting to fear
Judgement
Introspective
Used to be a respected
Perspective
But I’ve learned that
The world and I don’t connect
Intersect
Or run parallel
I’m in a different sphere
On a silent rock
Just trying to be right
Because where I am
Time has stopped
Empty room
no broken clock
in sight
but that’s nothing new
What’s changed
Life is subtle
They say the devil’s in the details
The lines between the page
The ones that are hard to read
The ones that make you adjust
Your range
From decibels
To decimals
That’s new
A different kind of math
The same base
In the same system
But they don’t add up
Life is subtle
What’s changed
The world and I don’t connect
I’ve learned
That perspective
Used to be respected
Introspective
Am I someone who’s … Continue reading

Tell Them

Looks can deceive them
Didn’t mean to be deceiving
Just meant to give something
To believe in
A King in rags
Means they understand
The value of gold
On this side of the world
Before our ancestors
Were bought and sold
Tell them
Looks can confuse them
Didn’t mean to be confusing
Just meant to find
Music that could
Show them your frame of mind
Could leave
Your fingerprints on trash
Let them frame your mind
Brand you a fool
Play it cool and
Tell them
Nothing is what it seems
Tell them
Yes
The grass on your side of the fence
Is really green
But you haven’t been home in so long
How could they envy
What neither of you are seeing
Tell them
You’ve been on a path to war
Tell them
How far
You’ve come
How many minds you’ve reached
How many souls you taught

Chicken Scratch

Me and my chicken scratch
What came first
That line
Or the idea that hatched
From the half-a-dozen
The ugly one in the batch
Dis-
Jointed
Awk-
Ward
Couldn’t find
The rhymes to match
Couldn’t find
A door to latch
Locked in
Windows gone
Boxed in
Sitting close to trash
Encouraging quick decisions
To bumpy roads
Not quite
But something close to rash
Looking for incredible outcomes
Not quite
So I do something close to dash
Towards the exit
Underneath the floor
So now I’m underground
Snap
Snap
Poet
Say no more
Well
Just a post script
About how sometimes
We all feel like
We’re at the receiving end
Of a twitching lash
Unseen tears
Giving us wishes
On a fallen lash
So I say
If you can’t find your door
Then find your candle
Find your match
And the light and heat
Might help you hatch
And grow ideas… Continue reading

Ambiguous (Can I Have Some More)

So controversial
Rehearsing for rehearsals
Reimbursing
Other name
Reversal
Take it back
This is nothing like the commercial
My soul wants a refund
It was fun
While the funds lasted
Graduated
But money was the key to all the classes
Retrospect
I would never have chosen to be born
Would never have chosen to be torn
From my mother’s womb
Living
I was pro life
Sometimes I wonder
While I beat the eggs in the kitchen
They’ll read it again
And that line will get ‘em
And again
Listen
Now that I’m here
Now that I’m risen
I make the best of my prison
Etch symbols on the walls
For future generations
And every so often I say
“Listen”
So it echoes for eternity in this empty
Cell
We talk about salvation
While we create plenty
Hells
Hollowed out
Feeling superior
While they save empty
Shells
And the sound of … Continue reading

“I mean, Listen, We’re Talking about Practice…”

It looks like I have to be angry
To write a good poem
Lately I don’t write for
Far too long
Maybe because the time I have
Is short
And I want to write for
Far too long
I still question where I am
Still looking for a home
To be alone
Frustrated
My break is almost over
And I might come back to this
But my train of thought
Would be filled with stones
Slowing down
Explaining metaphors now
Because no one reads
Irony
Paradox maybe
One day it will be ironic
Writing about the devil
Becoming iconic
A symbol
Pause
While you catch up to the last car
And I sip this tonic
Cures all pains
Even the most chronic
You’re saying too much
Too dense
So I repeat
Sometimes
I think about many things
And I run out of time
Before I run out of paper
And … Continue reading
